Bombers Bust Out 15 Hits to Secure Home-Field Advantage

Bryan-College Station (July 31, 2016)- Brazos Valley scored seven runs in the second inning and six runs in the fifth as they blowout the Acadiana Cane Cutters, 15-3. The win clinched home field advantage for the Bombers in the playoffs.

The TCL Junior Homerun Derby kicked off tonight’s activities with many local kids who came out to hit some balls. Thanks to The Batter’s Box for allowing our local children have a chance to play at Nutrabolt Stadium.

The scoring started in the second with a bases loaded walk for Zack McGuire. Tim Lichty and Ben Hollas would hit back-to-back RBI singles followed by a Tristan Metten 2-run single. Hunter Uzzle would continue the single’s attack with one of his own, scoring Hollas. Herrera finished the scoring in the inning with a fielder’s choice that plated Metten.

The Bombers offense continued to pound the Cane Cutters pitching as they batted around again in the fifth. Uzzle got the Bombers going with a two run double that scored Metten and Wilson. Alex Samples knocked in an RBI single and Metten would finish the scoring with another RBI hit.

Garrett McCain tacked on a 2-run homer, his second of the year.

Metten finished the game with a perfect 4-for-4 mark. He added three RBIs and scored two runs. Uzzle had three hits with three RBIs and two runs scored. McCain scored three runs from the top of the lineup and had two hits.

The Bombers head back on the road to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Monday and Tuesday. Brazos Valley will return home for a two-game series against the Woodlands Strykers on 50 cent Wings Wednesday by Smitty K’s Sports Bar & Grill and Thirsty Thursday presented by WB Liquors. George Bush Presidential Library and Museum will sponsor Wednesday with a special feature from the world-famous Sweet Right Brothers. Thursday will be Health Awareness Appreciation Night thanks to Cashion Dental.
