A Carousel of Pitchers Work to Shutout the River Monsters and Give the Bombers a 4-0 Victory

Bryan-College Station, Texas (June 30, 2022)- The Bombers return to Edible Field after a two-game skid in Baton Rouge the past two ball games, getting shutout last night and falling 1-0 to the Rougarou. Tonight however, the Bombers were the ones throwing a shutout, defeating the visiting Seguin River Monsters 4-0.

The Bombers wanted to get their scoring woes out of the way early to build their offensive confidence back up after last night’s shutout and did just that, taking a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning. After right fielder Kameron Weil, who finished 2-5 on the night with two runs and an RBI, crushes a standup double to deep right field, cleanup batter Mike Adair hits an RBI single to score Weil from 2nd.

After 3.5 innings of scoreless baseball, the Bombers extended their lead to four, scoring three in the 5th. The Bombers also had four out of their eight hits off River Monster starting pitcher, Zach Carrell, come in the 5th.

Leadoff batter Travis Chestnut started the inning with a leadoff double and quickly scored after stealing 3rd off an RBI single from Weil. Riley Bender follows Weil with a single of his own to advance the right fielder to 2nd. After both runners advance a bag off a wild River Monster pitch, Adair hits into a sacrifice grounder to score Weil from 3rd and record his 2nd RBI of the night. Left fielder Brandon Bishop joined in on the hitting parade with his 2nd hit of the ballgame, a single to bring home Bender and give the Bombers a 4-0 lead in the 5th.

The Bombers had a carousel of pitchers throughout the ballgame, Jack Hamilton, Cinoon Bak, Christian Clack, Adam Byrd, and Mason Bryant all saw the mound during the game. The group ended the game with 10 collective strikeouts, only allowing two hits and three walks.

Hamilton started on the mound and had a terrific four innings. Hamilton sat down 12 out of the 13 batters he faced, shutting down the first six batters in a row and ending with three strikeouts and no runs allowed off one hit.

The Bombers have their 2nd half of the back-to-back against the now 7-16 Seguin River Monsters tomorrow night back at Edible Field. Following tonight’s win, the Bombers are currently tied with the Acadiana Cane Cutters for first place in the TCL with a record of 16-7, both teams 7-3 in their last 10 games.

We hope to see you at the ballpark TOMORROW NIGHT for Fireworks Friday and a hotdog eating contest!
