Bombers Down Pump Jacks 7-1

Bombers Down Pump Jacks 7-1

The Bombers returned home tonight for the first of a four game home stand against the East Texas Pump Jacks. The Bombers received a nice performance all around especially from Brannon Easterling and Brad Porras.

The Bombers offense started early tonight. Center fielder Chris Florack started it off by drawing a walk. Catcher Myles Parma also drew a walk that moved Florack to second. First baseman James Wharton would reach first after an error by the Pump Jack shortstop. With the bases loaded, Third baseman Brennyn Smith would line a single that would plate Florack for the first run. Two batters later, Designated Hitter Brad Porras would line a double that would bring Parma, Wharton and Smith to the plate to make it 4-0 Bombers. Porras would drive in another run in the third inning when he hit another double that scored Brandon Wood who had gotten on base by drawing a walk. In the fifth inning, Smith would line a double and then come home on a ball hit by Left fielder Brandon Wood that allowed Wood to move to second after another error by the Pump Jack shortstop. Porras would pick up his fifth RBI of the night when he followed Wood and hit a single scoring Wood to make the score 7-1 at that point. For his performance tonight, Brad Porras was named the H&R Block Never Settle For Less Player of the Game.

College Station native, Brannon Easterling started tonight for the Bombers. Easterling threw six complete innings allowing four hits and one run while striking out two batters. Derek Mazzio came into the game and pitched both the seventh and eighth innings. Mazzio struck out two batters in the inning while allowing one hit. Andrew Hohn pitched the ninth inning for the Bombers. Hohn allowed a hit and struck out a batter to finish off the Pump Jacks.

The Bombers had some miscues defensively tonight, but not of then back fired as the defense made timely plays to help the pitchers out.
