Bombers Get an Off Day Before Seven Games In A Row

Bombers Get an Off Day Before Seven Games In A Row
After having an off day and then the TCL All Star Game, the Bombers traveled to Kilgore tonight to take on the first place East Texas Pump Jacks. The Bombers played a great game, but could not come up with enough hits to over come great pitching from the Pump Jacks as the Bombers fall 2-1. The Bombers will now head back to the Brazos Valley for an off day tomorrow before heading to Riverside Stadium in Victoria for two games starting Thursday.
Runs for the Bombers were hard to come by. Their first and only run came in the third inning when center fielder Jordan Hammerman drilled a Mike Hager pitch over the rightfield wall. This was all the scoring for the Bombers as they had a hard time against Pump Jack starter Mike Hager. The Bombers only managed four hits on the evening. Right fielder Myles Parma had two of them with singles to center. Third baseman Brennyn Smith had the other with a single to center as well.
Left hander and The Woodlands native, Andrew Godail started on the mound for the Bombers tonight. Godail threw 77 pitches in five innings, while striking out four Pump Jacks. Derek Mazzio came in to pitch two innings. Mazzio recorded one strikeout while throwing sixteen pitches. Aggie, Nathan Sorenson came in to pitch the eighth inning and recorded a strikeout while throwing nine pitches.
Hammerman was able to make a sweet play defensively. He charged a ball hit back up the middle. He then fired to Brennyn Smith at third to tag out a Pump Jack. Godail made a bare hand catch on a ball hit right back him. Godail dropped the ball, but was able to throw to Corey Toups for the out. Toups also started a 4-6-3 double play where Toups fielded a grounder, flipped to Smelser who then threw to Wharton at first. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Myles Parma sacrified his body and laid out to make a catch that ended the inning. In the seventh inning, short stop Nick Smelser made a nice charge on a ground ball. He was able to get the ball to Wharton at first to end the inning.
The Bombers continue on the road this week. The will have the day off tomorrow before heading to Victoria for two games against the Generals. They close the week out on Saturday with a road game at the Texas Marshals. The Bombers return to American Momentum Bank Ballpark this coming Sunday against The Woodlands Strykers. The game is a Sundae Funday with $1 Sundaes and Baseball Bingo brought to you by Brazos Bingo! The game will also be Cow Appreciation Day at the ballpark! The Bombers continue their series with the Stykers the following day with a Monday Feast featuring .50 cent Hotdogs, Peanuts, and Popcorn courtesy of FedStar Credit Union!
