Bombers Advance To Championship

Bryan/College Station,Texas(August 9,2017)- The Brazos Valley Bombers took another step to claiming their fifth straight TCL championship, defeating the Texarkana Twins to advance to the 2017 TCL championship.

Landon Miner got the start for the Bombers in the win or go home matchup against the Twins. The Texas A&M pitcher was one of the most consistent arms for the Bombers all season long.

After not allowing a run in the 1st inning, Miner gave up a lead off home run to Drake Osborn to start off the 2nd inning. Miner would buckle down and keep the Twins off the board after the home run.

The Bombers would respond in the bottom of the third when Michael Helman drove in both Christian Boulware and Jermayne with a 2 RBI double, giving the Bombers a 2-1 lead. Jared Mang also would drive in a run along with Chase Calabuig to cap off a 5 run 3rd inning for Brazos Valley.

Miner would shut the door on Texarkana and ended with a 5 inning outing only allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Ross Bludau would start the 6th inning and would pitch 2 scoreless innings to keep the Bomber lead at 5-1.

Jesse Philp would come onto the mound in the 8th inning and also keep the Twins off the board.

Ryan Benavidez would get the Bombers back on the scoreboard with a monster solo home run in the 8th inning over the right field wall to extend the lead to 6-1 going into the 9th inning.

Chase Maddux took the mound in the 9th inning and kept the Twins off the board and secured the victory for Brazos Valley, sending the Bombers to the 2017 TCL championship.

The Bombers will face the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the championship round and will travel to Acadiana for the 1st game of the series. Game 2 will be played at Nutrabolt stadium along with game 3 if necessary for a best of 3 game series.
