High Caliber Offense Downs the Aces as Bombers Sweep Alexandria

The explosive Bombers offense put their firepower on display in Alexandria Thursday night, downing the Aces by a score of 15-6. Everything was going right for the Bombers at the plate, and they were simply way too much for the opponent to handle. This win brings the Bombers' record to 14-12 and only 1.5 games out of first place with four games remaining to clinch a first half playoff spot.

The offense came to play early, with 7 runs in the first two innings. The strong showing chased Alexandria starter Mark Todd after only two complete innings of work. The Bombers offense hit a ridiculous .421 against Alexandria pitching, notching 15 runs on 16 hits. Third baseman Casey Dykes had a memorable day, going 2-2 at the plate with five runs batted in, scoring once and tallying three walks on the evening. Shortstop Scott Arthur was 3-5, with two runs scored and an RBI. First baseman Trey Porras went 2-4, with two runs scored, a walk, a run batted in, and extended his current hit-streak to seven games and raise his TCL-leading batting average to .451 on the season.

Danny Kelly notched his second win of the season, as the Bombers' pitching held the Aces hitters to 6 meaningless runs across the contest. Pitcher Adam Smith logged in his first inning of work on the mound this season, appearing in the ninth and striking out the side.

The Bombers will now return home to Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark to start a series with the Acadiana Cane Cutters. Come out Friday night to celebrate the Texas A&M Women's Basketball team, fresh off of their National Championship victory. As part of the evening's festivities, Coach Blair will take an official at-bat for the Bombers. Saturday night will be Salute the Troops Night, where the first one hundred fans into the stadium will receive a miniature U.S. flag.
